BioThis journal is about collecting. More precisely it's about me, collecting. I collect lots of stuff, not just one particular set like some collectors. Which is totally fine, if you read about collecting or if you're a collector you'll realize collecting is an irrational, gut-like drive. Those who do it don't know why they do it and often don't choose to, a collection just happens.
As if collecting wasn't geeky enough on it's own, I collect a lot of geeky stuff. SF books, comics, music videos, toys, even porn (yes, porn can be geeky, you'll see). I'm gonna be posting some of the things that I've already collected and the new stuff as well. I'm a very visual person, so most of the entries will have graphics, although not a lot. Feel free to friend me anytime, either way I won't be locking anything and I'm glad to know someone is listening.
If you really want to know about collecting and collectors you should definitely read "The System of Collecting" by Jean Baudrillard, which is part of his philosophical treatise "The System of Objects". If you're looking for a more down-to-earth, psychoanalytical point of view, then Werner Muensterberger's "Collecting: An Unruly Passion" is more up you're alley.
A little more about me, you ask? Well, let's see. I'm a twenty-something colombian librarian. I'm a very much a loner, even by geek standards. Most people seem to think geeks are all social isolates. I've never seen another geek in my life that wasn't with another geek. I am the exception to that rule. It's not something I'm proud of. I do want to have friends and relationships and whatnot, but I find social casual interaction to be incredibly confusing and stressful. I think that's about it, really. Everything else about me I plan on showing thru the journal, so stay tuned!
